The Yamaha RD-60 is actually a 55cc bike, and as such it's still 5cc over the limit for this blog, but it such a cool little bike I couldn't help but include it here. Despite the tiny engine and limited power it has the style of the bigger RD series Yamahas, and is reportedly capable of 53 mph. Like all tiny bikes, the trick is to keep the revs high and use the 5-speed gearbox. Under 5000rpm the engine produces very little power, but it starts coming on above that point and builds to a peak near the 10K rev limit.
With a fuel tank capacity of 2.1 gallons this little screamer should have a range of close to 200 miles, but most of the well-maintained RD60s left aren't being ridden regularly, if at all. Spares are reportedly scarce, and so this is a bike for serious collectors, not riders.
